Reps summon Naira Marley over Mohbad’s royalties
Yes, the House of Representatives of Nigeria has summoned Naira Marley to appear before it on October 31, 2023, to answer questions about the royalties owed to his late former signee, Mohbad. The House Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance is also inviting Mohbad’s manager, Jiggy Adeoye, to the meeting.
The summons comes after a motion was moved by Babajimi Benson, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Lagos State. Benson expressed concerns about the contracts and agreements that artistes are often compelled to sign, and called for a review of the laws governing the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
The House has also resolved to monitor the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death and the royalties accruing to him.
Naira Marley has not yet responded to the summons. However, it is important to note that the House of Representatives has the power to compel individuals to appear before it, and failure to do so could result in legal consequences.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as they become available.
